CINCINNATI, OH (June 16, 2016) – Diehl Tool Steel is featuring its popular Accu-Square pre-squared tool steel capabilities, as well as a selection of Hitachi hot work tool steel, at Amerimold 2016, which is currently being held in Novi, Michigan. Visitors to Diehl’s booth are able to inspect the company’s wide selection of cold work and hot work tool steel pre-squared to tool-maker tolerances, as well as barrel and screw components made with Hitachi steels.

According to Mr. Thomas Bell, Specialty Steel Product Group Head at Hitachi Metals, Ltd., “The barrel and screw components we are featuring at the show were made by Hitachi, and with Hitachi steels. Our customers have seen greater molding efficiency and productivity when molding glass filled plastics.” Diehl is now offering Hitachi’s SLD-i, DAC-P, and DAC-MAGIC specialty steels which are ideal for die casting and forging applications.

Diehl Steel Announces Acquisition Agreement; to Expand Product Portfolio

CINCINNATI, OH (November 2, 2015) – Diehl Steel Company, Inc. has entered into an agreement to be acquired by Tokyo, Japan-based Hitachi Metals Ltd. The acquisition calls for the transfer of all of Diehl Steel’s assets to a subsidiary of Hitachi Metals America, LLC, a specialty steel producer and distributor. The asset transfer is scheduled to take place on November 2, 2015. Diehl will be renamed Diehl Tool Steel, Inc.

According to Mr. Mike Sheehan, President of Diehl Steel Company, “This is an exciting development here at Diehl, and will allow us to better serve our many valued customers. Hitachi, through its parent company Yasugi Specialty Steel, is the world’s leading specialty steel manufacturer across a wide range of markets. The resources that will now be available to our team will allow us to better serve our cold work tool steel customers, and will also pave the way for us to offer hot work tool steel solutions for die casting and forging applications.”

Mr. Tom Bell, Product Group Head of Hitachi Metals America, LLC commented, “This acquisition greatly enhances our presence in North America, and will accelerate our plans to expand the capabilities we have to offer customers at Hitachi Metals.”

There will be no interruption of service, and Diehl customers will continue to work with their existing teams of sales and support professionals. Diehl Steel Introduces Diehl Express™; Same Day Shipment on Accu-Square™ Tool Steel CINCINNATI, OH

(January 26, 2015) – Diehl Steel has introduced a new rapid response service called Diehl Express, offering same day shipment on tool steel orders. Most orders placed by 12:00 PM EST can now be cut and shipped the same day, including orders using Diehl’s Accu-Square process, at no additional cost. The new service will allow Diehl to quickly deliver orders anywhere in the country.

To support the new service, Diehl has increased inventory levels of the most commonly ordered steel grades, and has dedicated labor and manufacturing resources to serve Diehl Express customers. According to Mike Sheehan, President at Diehl Steel, “Our Diehl Express program essentially makes us a ‘local’ resource to most any customer in the country. For the most popular grades of tool steel, we can now deliver to customers hundreds of miles away, just as if we were located in their home cities.”

Diehl Steel Introduces Marshalloy MQ®/FM Mold Quality Alloy Steel

CINCINNATI, OH (December 3, 2014) – Diehl Steel has introduced Marshalloy MQ/FM pre-hardened alloy steel. The mold quality, free machining steel is a premium P-20 produced through a propriety melting and refining process and is suitable for plastic injection mold applications as well as short run tools and dies. It shows superior cleanliness, polishability, machinability, uniformity and hardenability.

The unique characteristics of Marshalloy MQ/FM allow it to be polished to an extremely high finish. The material is tested to rigorous standards to ensure uniformity of structure and exceptionally low inclusion levels. It is decarb-free and stress-relieved, making it ideal for EDM processes.

Prehardened to 262/321/BHN, the balanced composition ensures uniform cross-sectional hardness and maintains the specified hardness throughout the plate. Minimum variation within any plate is 30BHN.
